Hearn: Dublin show postponed not cancelled

Matthew Macklin, Matchroom, big time boxing and Sky Sports will be back in Dublin before the year is out, says Eddie Hearn.

The promoter had a sold out show ready to go for August 30 which included a World title eliminator for Macklin, a mouthwatering Gary O’Sullivan versus Anthony Fitzgerald clash, as well as domestic fight between Luke Keeler and Paul Moffett.

An injury to Macklin’s coach and former Irish Champion Jamie Moore eventually lead to the show been postponed, Moore was the victim of a shooting in Spain.

However, Dublin fight fans will be delighted to hear Hearn plans to reschedule for a date in October or Novemeber.

“The show has been postponed. The main event has probably been postponed, but we do have the ability to probably make the Lee fight later on. We will be there probably the end of October early November,” Hearn  told IFL TV.

“It was a shame we went to Dublin for the press conference and it was brilliant and it was sold out. Obviously Matthew’s preparations couldn’t be what they needed to be with Jamie out injured. I think its the first show I have ever postponed, obviously it is exceptional circumstances, but obviously it is the right move for Matthew as every fight is a must win now.”
