Headline opportunity no surprise to hot-shot Lee Reeves

Lee Reeves [3(2)-0] believes he is worthy of headline status and aims to prove just why with a statement win in Toronto this Saturday night.

The 24-year-old welter will be the main event on the annual Lee Baxter Promotions 4/20 event at the Danforth Music Hall in what will be just his fourth fight. 

It’s a massive show of faith in the slick southpaw by promoter Baxter and an indication of just how talented and indeed entertaining he believes the Limerick man is.

For Reeves it’s an honour, but not an overwhelming scenario. The confident stylist believes he is bill-topping material and suggests his first three displays were so impressive he has earned the lion’s share of the spotlight.

The Corpus Christi graduate also claims he doesn’t feel pressure despite making such a step up so soon into his paid career.

“I can’t wait, it’s going to be an amazing night,” Reeves told Irish-Boxing.com. 

“It came at the right time, we believe because the performances have all been up to standard and the fans are there in Toronto and all over that. They want to see me fight live, so its a great idea to have me headlining.”

“I don’t feel pressure, pressure is only for tyres and bouncy castles!”

The main event slot has been a reward for three eye catching performances but whilst he takes centre stage, Reeves is aware there is still to be learning to be done.

The relatively new to the pro ranks puncher indicates his promoter is of the same belief and while he makes a massive step up the card ranking order he will still partake in learning fights.

“It is a reward because when you work hard and perform well you have too be rewarded. I am still in the first six months of being professional so I am moving along just as my promoter Lee Baxter wants me too and learning as much as I can.”

The Limerick City southpaw moves up in rounds and possibly class as well on Saturday.

Argentinian Guillermo Ariel Lettieri [17(12)-2(2)-1] will man the away corner in what will be Reeves’s first six-round contest.

Reeves predicts it will be his toughest test to date and points out there are a lot of challenges to be overcome during the fight.

However, he remains confident he will not just win, but do so in entertaining fashion. Indeed, the Treaty County man is adamant his upcoming opponent provides him with a chance to register somewhat of a statement.

“My style always excites no matter what but I would like to make a statement against such an experienced opponent,” he stated.

“This is going to by my toughest fight yet . I’m going into my fourth fight against a guy going into his 20th fight with only two losses. It’s my first six rounder and it’s up a weight compared to what I fought my last fight at.”

“So, when I beat this experienced veteran and put on a show, I think it will make a big statement.”
