George Groves hit out publicly at Carl Frampton after getting offended by a question the Belfast fighter asked during his TKO Podcast this week.

The retired Londoner accused Frampton of stating he ‘quit’ during his World Super Boxing Super Series final defeat to Callum Smith and responded with a blistering social media attack.

The outburst has roots in the fact Frampton and Chris Lloyd had Callum Smith in as a guest on the #TKO podcast this week.

‘The Jackal’, who returns to the ring in Las Vegas on November 30, did ask the Liverpudlian, if he felt there was an ‘element of quit’ in ‘The Saint’ during their Saudi Arabia hosted WBSS decider.

Frampton who, like Groves, was previously trained by Shane McGuigan and as a result they were brief stablemates, raised the issue again after Smith tried to bat the question away – and somewhat later in the podcast admitted there was some devilment on his behalf due to a previous social media spat the pair had with regard to a spelling mistake.

However, Groves certainly didn’t see the funny side and wasn’t too happy with his heart being questioned.

He took to social media – and due to the fact they pair have blocked each other – requested fans tag the Top Rank fighter in an aggressively worded Tweet.

Groves tweeted: “I just saw Carl Frampton suggesting in an interview with Callum Smith that I quit. If you’ve got something to say half-pint then say it to me, you jealous little c***. You know f*** all about me, and f*** all about what it took to even make it to that fight. I’m not going to let little haters like you diminish my career. Research my career. See what I overcame and try and find ‘quit’ in me.”

Frampton responded with the more laid back, “Thanks for the numbers mate. We will discuss on our next episode of #TKO.”

Groves retired after his WBSS defeat to Smith last year at the age of 30. He went into the fight not long after recovering from a shoulder injury and was stopped in the seventh round.
