Geraghty- I will be ready to step it up a level after this fight

DECLAN Geraghty knows he faces another survival specailist when fights for a fourth time as a pro tomorrow, but is hoping a step up in level will enable him to show of his full list of talents next time out.

The Dublin lightweight takes on Kristian Laight a fighter who has only been stopped 5 times in 179 defeats on the massive MEN Boxnation broadcast show tomorrow.

The 24 year old knows his opponent a who is heading toward the 200 fight mark will be more than equipt to survive all manner of attacks, but hopes to fight a more ambitious foe when next time round, thus affording him the chance to display his full array of skills.

Speaking to Irish-boxing.com ahead of the contest, Geraghty said

“I know he will be in there to survive, but I am ok with that as I want to get the rounds in, especially since I’m moving up to six rounds when I fight in Dublin (August 30). I will just box and if the big shoot comes it comes, but I am ready to do the rounds. We talking about stepping up in terms of opponent for maybe the next fight. l want better lads, fighters who will come and fight because that’s when you will see my real skills.” said Geraghty.

Fighting on such a big show affords Geraghty the chance to catch the eye of a wider audience and possibly promoter of Saturday’s show Frank Warren.

‘Pretty Boy’ is content with the chance to set more chins wagging, but is adamant he performs exactly the same regardless of the amount of people watching.

“I’m glad to be on such a big show, but like l said many times before there could be 1000 people or 20000 watching, I get into that ring and just do what I do best. I don’t get stressed over boxing because it’s what I’m best it just comes to me naturally.”

There were hopes the former National Amateur Champion’s clash would be broadcast live on Boxnation, but it seems as he is part taking in a swing bout he will have to wait for his TV debut,

“I’m hoping it will be on Boxnation, but if not it’s not a big deal because l know l will keep winning and people will see how good l am eventually.

“l will make it it’s just about timing and patience. I am moving fast already and I’ve three more fights lined up before September, so I’m not worried about any thing but boxing at my best in every fight for now.”
