Geale’s Irish sparring partner warns Macklin the Aussie is a ‘class act’

Dennis Hogan has been sparring with the enemy and having got the inside track on Daniel Geale has warned Matthew Macklin he faces a ‘class act’ on May 24.

The Australian based Kildare native has been sparring with the two time world champion ahead of his eagerly anticipated bout with former European champ ‘Mack The Knife’ and has been impressed with what he has seen.

On a personal note the Australian middleweight belt holder has gained confidence from sharing the ring, albeit in sparring, with the world ranked puncher. The Hurricane stresses without sparring Macklin he can’t give a valid prediction, but does warn his fellow Irish 160lbs competitor that he faces a top notch fighter in Texas later this month.

“Sparring with Geale was a great experience and I believe it was great sparring to have watched. I got so much out of it and yes it’s solidified my belief that I can go all the way. Especially when I fight better on fight night than sparring. I hope to be asked down to spar Geale again.  I represent Ireland and Australia so if Macklin wants to fly me in for some sparring I will gladly take that offer too. Without that unfortunately though I can’t pick a winner, but I will say Geale is a class act.”
