Fryers will move from prospect to contender on Saturday says Dunlop

Fight week has finally arrived for James “The Future” Fryers who fights Yorkshires Danny “Maxi” Hughes in a British Boxing Board of Control mandated eliminator for the British Super Featherweight Title at the Europa Hotel on Saturday night.

The undefeated (11-0) 23 year old Belfast prospect Fryers knows that an impressive victory over the talented southpaw Hughes (14 -2-2) could propel him to the top of the tree for a shot at the title.

Fryers was an outstanding amateur, many boxing scholars believe he has the talent and attitude to go all the way in the professional sport. Hughes however is no push over; he has held his own in top company losing only twice to British Lightweight Champion Scott Cardle and the highly rated Martin J Ward.

Maxi Hughes also knows the magnitude of this match up and brings a travelling party of 40 across the Irish Sea with him as he looks to do a number on Fryers.

“Fryers v Hughes is a real mouth-watering 50/50 contest, the whole Northern Ireland boxing community is talking about the fight, I believe it will be a real tough 10 round battle with James pulling away in the later stages, come Saturday night he will move from Prospect to Contender” Added Promoter Mark Dunlop

The exciting MHD Promotions in association with A McLean Bookmakers show features some of the best local talent Ulster has to offer at the minute with the remainder of the card also former multiple All-Ireland amateur champions all in great fights.

The popular Paul Hyland Jnr (9-0) with major title aspirations himself faces another stern test in former WSB fighter Jacek Wlyezol (14-12) of Poland. A good win should see “Hylo” in the top 10 of the British Lightweight rankings.

21YO 2014 Commonwealth Games Starlet Joe “The Dragon” Fitzpatrick 3-0 (3KO) looks to be in a real shoot out and he takes on the Big hitting Ruslans Burdimuradovs 8-5 (7KO) who is fresh from winning a local Latvian Prizefighter competition.

Hot prospect Fergal McCrory should get a good workout against the lively and durable Hungarian Peter Mellar over 4×3 rounds at lightweight in what looks a great learning fight for the Coalisland man.
