Frampton versus Kiko Martinez II in Belfast for a World title ?

THE boxing rumour mill is churning out news of a Carl Frampton Kiko Martinez rematch.

Reports have been circulating today that super bantamweight sensation Frampton has not just opened talk’s with the Spainard with plenty of Irish previous but has penned an agreement to fight the IBF world champion.

Since Frampton became the first fighter to stop Bernard Dunne’s former destroyer back in February of 2013 the four time European champion won a World title and successfully defended it twice.

Cyclone Promotions set about getting a rematch when Martinez first claimed the title, but their advances were initially rebuffed. Team Frampton then went the WBC and became mandatory for Leo Santa Cruz’s world title with victory over two weight world champion Hugo Cazares.

Cruz, however revealed this week that his team are pushing him toward a Scott Quigg fight before putting the title on the line against Frampton. However, it is not all bad news for ‘The Jackal’. If rumours are to be believed he has secured a Belfast summer showdown with the nomadic Martinez. Fighting the Spaniard before breaking America with a Cruz bout was always touted as the ideal scenario and it seems things are going to play out perfectly for the Belfast fighter.
