Frampton rival Quigg makes a statement and destroys Martinez!!

JUST seconds before Carl Frampton was jumping back up from the first knock down of his career Scott Quigg was jumping around the ring celebrating the biggest win of his career.

The WBA regular Champion took out teak tough Kiko Martinez in the second round an outcome that shocked everyone bar team QUigg.

Quigg was keen to make a statement not just to gain the respect a lot of fight fans, but to increase his negotiation position when Matchroom and Eddie Hearn try and re open negotiations with Ireland’s Carl Frampton.

Quigg looked nervy and tentative in the first. He seemed worried about the former European and World champs power in a round he lost fairly widely.

However, an upper cut when Martinez rushed in the second changed the course of the fight and maybe Quigg’s career.

The Spaniard, who took Frampton eight and 12 rounds in their title fights, eventually fell to the floor. The Matchroom fighter then jumped the experienced and renowned tough man and among the flurry of shots a right hook landed re-acquainting the hard man with the canvas.

Martinez beat the count but the bout was waved off and Quigg registered a massive statement.
