Frampton ‘is ready to become a world champ again’ according to Warren

Carl Frampton [26(15)-2(0)] will prove he is still a world class operator over the coming months according to Frank Warren.

The veteran British promoter has backed ‘The Jackal’ to put a ‘nightmare’ year behind him by winning a world title in 2020.

“Carl Frampton is back in training and ready to become a world champion again in 2020,” Warren said in his Daily Star column.

“The Belfast fighter is putting a nightmare 12 months behind him and will show he is still a world class fighter over the next year.”

Warren reconfirmed the Top Rank fighter will make his ring return on November 30, but claims the opponent has yet to be decided.

It’s widely believed Puerto Rican Luis Orlando Del Valle will man the opposite corner, although it has to be said Isaac Dogboe was at one stage in Frampton foe pole.

Either way while Warren is non committal with regard to who the Belfast fighter will fight, he does assure the 32-year-old faces a test.

“Frampton hopes to get back to winning ways in the fight capital of the world when he returns to the ring on November 30 in Las Vegas.

“The opponent has not been confirmed yet but it will be someone who will test the Northern Irishman while putting him in contention for world honours again.

“Frampton should have been back in the ring by now but he suffered a freak hand injury when a concrete pillar dropped on his hand just days before his planned comeback in August,” he adds before reflecting on the BBBofC fight of the year.

“It’s almost 10 months since his Christmas cracker with IBF champion Josh Warrington.

“He may have lost that night but he showed what a warrior he is and as soon as he told me he wanted to fight on I knew the former super-bantamweight and featherweight champion could win another world title. Now he can prove that in 2020 with the help of us, Top Rank and ESPN.”

A victory in Las Vegas on November 30 should see the two weight world title winner secure another shot at a world crown.

WBO super featherweight champion Jamel Herring [20(10)-2(1)] has been suggested as a possible opponent – and if that fight does come off, the Jamie Moore trained fight will get the chance to become Ireland’s first ever three weight world champion.
