Frampton: The injury Kiko claims he gave me is the type of injury you get when your ma clips you around the ear.

THE ‘injury’ Kiko Martinez inflicted on Carl Frampton could have happened if Mr Frampton had given ‘The Jackal’ a clip around the ear, dismissed Frampton himself.

Martinez, who puts his IBF super bantamweight title on the line against the Belfast Boy this Saturday night, had highlighted the fact Frampton spent eight months out of the ring after they last fought in February 2013.

The Spaniard claimed Frampton had to give his body time to recover after suffering the effects of Martinez’s power.

Frampton, however claims his ring absence was due to promotional issues. He did admit a doctor advised against taking one clash due to a perforated ear drum, but revealed that was more caution than concern.

Frampton also claimed that inflicting such an injury isn’t something the man he stopped last time they traded leather should be proud off.

Indeed, he said the last time he had such an injury it was after a spar with a then 10 year old Ryan Burnett.

“The absence was due to the fact I was changing promoter,” Frampton said.
“We had some issues with the last promoter and we set up our promotion company, Cyclone Promotions and look were we are now.

“I did have a perforated ear drum, but the doctor said that is the type of injury you get when you Ma clips you around the ear. So it wasn’t any big shot Kiko caught me with. The last time I had that injury Ryan Burnett gave it to me when he was 10 years old!.”
