Carl Frampton [26(15)-2(0)] has dismissed Isaac Dogboe’s recent talk as ‘nonsense’.

The former super bantamweight world champion had been heavily linked with ‘The Jackal’ in recent months.

At one stage the ‘Royal Storm’ even looked odds on to provide opposition for the Belfast fighter’s return to the ring – and was in poll position to man the away corner in Las Vegas latter this month.

Indeed, the 25-year-old Ghanaian Brit spoke positively about winning a fight between the duo. Dogboe [20(14)-2(1)] promised to stop ‘The Jackal’ and claimed once that was achieved he would look for a fight with Conor McGregor.

β€œI’m telling you this from the bottom of my heart. I was sparring Frampton when I was 1-0 and Frampton he was a world champion, he was at the top of his game and I pushed him back, I pushed him around the ring. I am not going to go into details I am just going to leave it at that,” said Dogboe.

β€œWhen this fight comes on and everyone knows I said it first, I am going to knock him out and then I am going to call for that Irish man Conor McGregor.”

Frampton revealed his old sparring partner, who was also linked to Michael Conlan around Autumn time, was on a list of potential opponents.

However, the former two weight world champion has since revealed that Dogboe wasn’t willing to back up the talk and elected against the fight.

Upset, with a fighter he felt he helped out early doors, talking out of school, Frampton gave a different version of sparring events.

“Former world champion Isaac Dogboe talked a good game, but in the end he decided not to fight me on November 30 in Las Vegas,” Frampton explained in his Sunday Life column.

“I have to say I am very disappointed in Dogboe because he had been talking nonsense about how he was going to knock me out and making suggestions he had got the better of our sparring.

“I remember sparring as well – 14 ounce gloves, bigger than the ones we use in a fight, putting him flat on his back with a left hook, so I think he should keep his disillusion thoughts to himself.

“I don’t normally talk about sparring, but Dogboe, disappointingly has shown me a lack of respect, as I was the one who helped him out earlier in his career by bringing him into camp.”

Frampton returns to the ring for the first time since his IBF world title fight reverse to Josh Warrington.in Las Vegas on November 30.

The Top Rank fighter takes on American Tyler McCleary live on ESPN.
