Frampton is 100 percent more skilled than Quigg says Kiko Martinez

It seems Kiko Martinez is a bonafide member of ‘The Jackal Army’.

The Spaniard, who had Bernard Dunne gone in 60 seconds back in 2008, has faced both Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg, who face off in a massive World title fight this Saturday night.

Bury’s Quigg took the three-time European champion out in two rounds, while Frampton stopped him round nine of a European title fight and went the distance with ‘Mini Tyson’ in an IBF World title fight.

However, Martinez, a fighter who fought in Ireland seven times and was linked to Willie Casey, Paul Hyland and Wayne McCullough as well as fighting Dunne and Frampton, is adamant Frampton is the better operator and has backed the Belfast fighter to claim victory in Manchester this Saturday night.

The fighter, who challenges Leo Santa Cruz for World featherweight honours not long after Frampton and Quigg trade leather, claims ‘The Jackal’ boast’s 100 percent more skill than his rival.

“Frampton is my favorite,” Martinez told RingTV.com through Oscar Zardain of Maravilla Box. “In my opinion Frampton is a better fighter than Scott, 100 percent much more skilled than him. Scott is a good fighter too but he had his lucky night when he fought against me.”

“Carl is a very talented fighter; he is fast and tough and has a good power in his hands too,” continued the 29-year-old. “Scott is a classical boxer with a very good technique. Maybe he is not the best in anything but he does everything in the right way. Frampton-Quigg is a superfight, no doubt.”

Martinez has the Cyclone Promotions puncher down as ‘favourite’ but doesn’t think he is infallible and warns he must remain defensively aware against the Matchroom puncher.
“The danger for Frampton is that he does not care about receiving punches. He ignores the defense and he is not worried about his opponent’s attack. I think that Quigg is less talented and his footwork is worse.”
