Forget bright lights Frampton want his name on World champions wall in McGuigan’s Gym

CARL Frampton’ has already seen his name in lights. Anywhere you go in Belfast you can see ‘Titanic Showdown Freampton Martinez II’ posters. The Belfast fighter has been a Belfast favourite and media draw for some time now.

But Frampton doesn’t want to seeing his name on billboards, or on the back pages of newspapers, he wants it written on a wall in his London training base.

In McGuigan’s Gym in Battersea, where Frampton has prepared for this and all his recent fights there is a wall that only World champions are allowed to sign and if he dethrones current IBF champion Kiko Martinez on September the undefeated super bantamweight will practice a very special graffiti ritual.

“It will be great to call yourself a World Champion and that is what I aim to do – but this is only the start. There is more to come from me. We have a wall in the gym in Battersea that only World Champions are allowed to sign,” said Frampton.

“I have not got my name on it, Mike Tyson’s name is there, Joe Calzaghe, Nathan Cleverley and a few others and I want my name up there. And I will write my name a lot bigger than Tyson’s.”
