James Power wrapped up a very successful weekend for Irish boxing with victory in the early hours of Sunday morning Irish time.

Ireland’s youngest pro made it five wins from five for Irish fighters when he traded leather in Mexico.

The 18-year-old defeated Camilo Rojas in his third fight in Tijuana to stretch his unbeaten start to five.

The Cork fighter out scored his opponent 40-36 as he went the full distance for the first time since he turned over in September of last year.

The victory came in Power’s first fight since he relocated to LA and came under the guidance of new coach Courage Tshabalala.

Power’s win was also the fifth Irish win of a fruitful weekend.

Vladimir Belujsky, Dylan Moran, and Nathan Watson all posted victories to get a big weekend off to a successful start.

Belujsky and Moran both returned to winning ways following stoppage defeats last time out while Watson had a successful debut.

At the York Hall, SSC duo Belujsky and Moran both had comprehensive wins. Cork super middle Belujsky forced Michael Ibrahim to retire on his stool after two punishing rounds to move to 9(7)-3(1)-1.

Waterford welter Moran dominated Michael Likalu over four rounds, scored 40-36, and improved to 11(6)-1(1).

Down Under, Belfast welter Watson also had a second round stoppage, putting Michael Dan down thrice at the Fortitude Stadium.

The wins got bigger on Saturday as Anthony Cacace out pointed Sam Bowen on the top of a BT Sports broadcast bill to claim the British title.

Some hours later in Las Vegas Carl Frampton was having his hand raised. ‘The Jackal’ made light of some hand issues to dominate Tyler McCreary, an American opponent that was meant to ask him questions.

Frampton looks to have set up another world title shot with a 100-88, 100-88, 100-88 win over the Ohio native.

Power then rounded off a great weekend with his win in Mexico.
