Fighter Favourites: White Chocolate Tyrone McCullagh

Our weekly feature Fighter Favourites sees us ask Irish punchers their preferences from the world of boxing.

This week it is the turn of Derry super bantamweight Tyrone McCullagh [5(4)-0] who fights this Friday in Belfast.

Q: Favourite Current Fighter?
A: Guillermo Rigondeaux. He’s unbelievable to watch, people say otherwise that he’s boring and not exciting but anyone who knows boxing knows that his skill, footwook, movement, speed etc is world class. Every super bantam is running scared of him and I don’t blame them.

Q: Favourite Fighter of All Time?
A: I’m going to say Roy Jones Jr. It’s close between him and Floyd Mayweather, but I loved watching videos of Roy Jones in his prime. He made it look so easy. It’s a shame he didn’t know when to retire and took fights he never should’ve because he should be remembered for how he was in his prime not the fights he has been taking the last eight or nine years/

Q: Favourite Irish Fighter?
A: Eamonn O’Kane, You could always learn from Eamonn. His training, his attitude, his heart, he always gave it 110% in everything and that’s all you can do in boxing – give it your all and have no regrets.

Q: Favourite Fight?
A: Gatti v Ward. That’s an obvious one, I don’t think many fights will ever come close to topping that. Two warriors who just refused to quit.

Q: Favourite of Your Own Fights?
A: The Irish Senior semi final in 2010 against Ryan Lindberg. He had beaten me three times before this – once being two weeks before on a 3-3 countback. This time I won on a 7-7 countback so it was good to finally get that demon off my back
