Dylan’s Déise Dream – Moran still has massive Waterford homecoming plans

Dylan Moran [10(5)-(1)-1] won’t let Waterford’s current boxing woes prevent him from predicting a homecoming clash in the future.

The Munster city became the centre of some negative attention last week when Ring King’s promoter Neil Power revealed he had to pull a proposed Déise show.

Considering how successful the first Ring Kings installment was the news came as a massive surprise.

However, Power explained how the cost of running a show just didn’t make it viable and also revealed he couldn’t find a venue willing to host a night of professional boxing.

‘Real Deal’ Moran, who looks to return to winning ways in Mexico this weekend, admits he was shocked to hear the news.

However, whilst disappointed for local fans and those who would have got the chance to fight on the card, he isn’t personally worried.

The Star Boxing welterweight is still confident he will bring big time boxing back to his home city – but notes that work has to be done first, which in turn means last weeks news isn’t as worrying in terms of his personal career.

“I have seen that and can’t understand it,” Moran said of Ring Kings not going ahead with show plans.

“The lads done a great job last time and I am sure would have been even better this time round .

“It is worrying but I’m in no rush for a homecoming. It is a dream of mine, but I need to take care of the fights at hand first. Then the more fights I have and win the bigger a homecoming becomes,” he adds.

Moran was defeated last time out as he made his American debut against big punching opposition Dennis Okoth.

The popular welter looks to return to winning ways in his second fight on Mexican soil this weekend.

He would love a return with the only fighter to defeat him

“There’s already massive interest for it . If I was to have a homecoming soon I’d love to bring Dennis Okoth to Waterford.”
