Double fight date delight for upcoming debutant

Karl Kelly was forced to wait longer than he had hoped for a debut date – but the Dublin welterweight is now set to have two fight dates in less than two weeks.

The Jay Byrne-managed boxed fights on the Red Corner Promotions ‘Champions Elect’ bill on Saturday October 7th, making his pro bow against a to-be-confirmed opponent.

The card at the National Stadium also features the debut of Craig McCarthy, as well as appearances from Victor Rabei and Allan Phelan, a clash between Manny Bique and Vladimir Belujsky, and BUI Celtic title fights for Craig O’Brien, Noely Murphy, and Chris Blaney.

Now it has been announced that, all going well in his debut, Kelly will return to the ring for his second fight just 13 days later.

The former top semi-pro fighter will feature on the inaugural SK Promotions bill at the CityWest in Saggart on Friday October 20th.

Kelly joins Liam Gaynor and Chris Mullally on the small hall bill, with three more still to be announced.

The 22 year old said that “I’m extremely excited to be a part of the event and I’m sure it’ll be a great night. I’m confident in my ability and want the fights to come thick and fast to build my experience.”

“It’s great to be boxing in my home city and the more fight nights in Dublin the better. The atmosphere is always great and I can’t wait to get in there and perform.”
