The Boxing World Reacts to Dennis Hogan’s controversial World Title loss to Jaime Munguia

Dennis Hogan was denied the greatest win in Irish boxing history yesterday night but his plight did not go unnoticed.

The Brisbane-based Kildare light middleweight looked to have outfought reigning WBO champion Jaime Munguia at the Arena Monterrey but would lose a highly controversially majority decision on the scorecards.

Hogan and his team disagreed with the verdict, believing he had won, as did the Australian and Irish media – and we weren’t alone.

Some big names from the world of boxing felt Hogan had done enough.

IBF and WBA light middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd was chronicling the fight via the ‘stories’ on his Instagram account @swift_jarretthurd.

When the verdict was read out he exclaimed “Man, that is bullshit, I’m telling you!” before further expressing his annoyance on the DAZN feed.

Indeed, away from Irish and Aussie reporters, the international boxing media largely backed Hogan.

And, of course, Hogan’s fellow Irish boxers had their say.
