Dennis Hogan and Jaime Munguia to fight on Golden Boy card – but not against each other

Dennis Hogan [28(7)-2(0)-1] will share the same card as recent foe Jaime Munguia [33(26)-0], but unfortunately won’t share the ring with the Mexican world champion when he returns to fight action.

Irish-Boxing.com can reveal ‘The Hurricane’ fights for the first time since his controversial defeat to the WBO light middleweight world title holder on in LA on Saturday October 19th.

The Australia-based recent world title challenger won’t get the chance to avenge what a host have labelled a ‘terrible decision’ when the pair meet in Monterrey Arena, Monterrey, Mexico as recently as April 13th.

However, the Kilcullen native should come face to face with the massive 22-year-old during fight week and on fight night if elects to watch the main event after he makes his return to the ring.

Hogan will appear on the same Golden Boy card as the champion and can make some rematch noise if he so chooses.

The DDP Promotions fighter, who maintained a WBO #3 ranking despite the reverse, is rumoured to be returning against another noteworthy opponent.

Indeed, Irish-Boxing.com believe Golden Boy and his DDP team will push for the clash to be a final eliminator for the WBO title Hogan is adamant should now be sparkling around his waist.

The fight will also be broadcast live on DAZN meaning Hogan, whose stock rose significantly in controversial defeat, should be assured of a good pay day and has been handed the chance to increase his profile further.

With Hogan and Munguia appearing side by side on a Golden Boy card most would conclude the massive American based promotional outfit are looking to build a possible rematch.

However, it has to be noted the Mexican is very close to a move up to middleweight – and if the Kildare fighter does manage to get mandatory status for a second time Munguia may just move up in weight.
