It’s seems like Declan Geraghty [19(4)-5(4)] will fight on and will do so under the guidance of a new trainer.

‘The Pretty Boy’ was said to be considering retiring after being stopped in a high profile step up fight for the xx time in his career.

There was rumours the Dubliner was talking about a move up in weight, but immediately after being floored by Archie Sharp live on BT back in September, fight fans were full of ‘Geraghty retirement’ talk.

However, the two weight Irish amateur champion and slick southpaw looks set to box on.

Irish-boxing.com understands Geragthy has joined the growing number of fighters training in Ballyfermot, at the Colosseum under the guidance of Pete Taylor.

There is no comeback date confirmed, but it’s believed Geraghty is actively seeking a fight date.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise as, despite the pretty boy and flash image, the Dubliner has taken big defeats on the chin to bounce back.

He was stopped by domestic rivals James Tennyson, Jono Carroll and Marco McCullough in recent years, but came back promising success.

Post Sharpe he seems to be taking the same approach. In all defeats bar the Carroll reverse, where he was systematically broken down, the 29-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance before ultimately being caught and stopped.

Indeed, the former Crumlin amateur looked untouchable early in the Sharpe fight and there is certainly a boxing skillset, IQ and brain Taylor can work with.

The Geraghty news comes soon after it was revealed Tyrone McKenna and Tyrone McCullagh would be joining the Taylor camp.

Cavan’s light middleweight Owen Duffy also seems to have made the move and is working in Ballyfermot.

Taylor has been training the likes of Luke Keeler, Steve Collins, Sam Carroll, Senan Kelly, Tony McGlynn and Olympian David Oliver Joyce for some time.

He has been recently joined by Tommy McCarthy, the Tyrones’, Martin Quinn and now Geraghty.
