Declan Geraghty ready to start delivering on his potential tonight

Declan Geraghty [19(4)-4(3)] says he is ready to begin delivering on his potential tonight.

The slick southpaw challenges undefeated Archie Sharp [16(8)-0] for his WBO super featherweight European ranking live on BT Sports and is promising a performance of note.

In fact ‘Pretty Boy’ has suggested he will produce the kind of display more akin to the ones that had people really excited about his prospects when he first turned over.

The 29-year-old has impressed in flashes since dishing the vest, particularly against Johnny Quigley, but has lost in all three of his major step up bouts and feels he hasn’t delivered on his early promise.

Indeed, he points out he has never brought his amateur or gym form into the pro ring with him, something he plans to change tonight.

“I haven’t lived up to my potential. I haven’t lived up to what I can do. I haven’t shown what I do in the gym and what I did as an amateur in the pro ring yet and I am really excited about changing that on Friday,” Geraghty said.

“I am very confident. I am confident because camp has gone so well.”

Geraghty predicts he will upset show promoter Frank Warren at the Royal Albert hall tonight before making things up to him as they work side by side in the future.

The Dubliner has been hinting at teaming up with the promoter all week and is more than open to talking post the Daniel Dubios topped show.

“Frank is going to be a little bit upset this Friday night. We will sit down, have a drink, have a talk, sort things out and he will sign me up. Then we will see whose next.

“It’s a great set up Frank, Queensbury promotions and BT Sports have here and I am looking forward to being here more regular.”

Daniel Dubois headlines tonight’s bill when he meets Ghana’s Ebenezer Tetteh for the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight crown. Nicola Adams also appears against experienced Mexican Maria Salinas, live on BT Sport.

Middleweight banger Denzel Bentley, heavyweight Jonathan Palata, lightweight Mohammad Bilal Ali and precocious bantamweight talent Dennis McCann are also in action.

Lewis Edmondson, Eithan James and Sam Noakes all make their professional debuts.
