2012: Light middleweight Lee Murtagh defeated Joe Hillerby at the Emerald Roadhouse in Belfast to win the Irish title at the fourth time of asking. The bout was called to a halt in the sixth, with Belfast’s Hillerby retiring due to a painful dislocated shoulder. The Leeds-born fighter would defend the strap three months later against Willie Thompson before heading to America as Irish champ for a stadium fight with Hector Camacho Jr.

1970: 18 year old flyweight Davy Larmour defeated Kenyan Isaac Kuria Maina to guarantee bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. The future Olympian was beaten in the semis by Ugandan silver medalist Leo Rwabwogo. Larmour would win gold four years later in New Zealand.
