Date and under card mooted for Matchroom’s Belfast show

April 30 appears to the be the date the Sky Sports camera’s will return to Belfast.

Eddie Hearn revealed last November he plans to put British bantamweight champion Ryan Burnett on the top of a show in Ireland’s fight capitail.

Irish-boxing.com believes plans are well underway for Matchroom’s first Belfast clash since Carl Frampton claimed the European title with victory over Kiko Martinez back in February of 2009.

Matchroom, who have a show in Sheffield on April 9, are eyeing up an April 30 date in a venue yet to be confirmed and are keen to put on a strong card.

According to the rumour mill the Belfast return is a test the waters venture and for Sky Sports to return to the city on a regular basis the proposed fight night has to be a success in terms of ticket sales and veiwing figures.

A host of Belfast names will be hopeful of securing slots on the card, while Matchroom’s Jono Carroll and Lke Keeler are already penciled in for the fight date.
