Darren O’Neill gets Ireland up and running in Baku

It’s a case of -one down, four to go’ for Kilkenny’s Darren O’Neill who won his Round of 32 bout at the final AOB Olympic qualifier this evening in Baku.

The middleweight-turned-heavyweight defeated Swede Mustafa El Molla by a comfortable unanimous decision (30-27 x3) to book his place in the next round.

For O’Neill to qualify for Rio he must win the tournament in Azerbaijan outright.

The Paulstown puncher fights in the Last 16 on Monday afternoon.
