Cyclone Promotions announce comeback show

Irish outfit Cyclone Promotions have announced their first show since the cancellation of Carl Frampton’s Belfast homecoming.

The McGuigan-run company saw their first Irish show in over a year and a half unfortunately shelved under freak circumstances back in July.

Belfast’s two-weight world champion Carl Frampton [23(14)-1(0)] was due to face Mexican Andres Gutierrez at the SSE Odyssey Arena, live on Channel 5, on July 29th.

The full card however was postponed the night beforehand when Gutierrez slipped in the shower and suffered cuts and sever dental damage. A refixed date was mooted, but the proposed event was later cancelled entirely.

Frampton would announce his split with Cyclone last month.

This afternoon Cyclone have announced their first show since this series of events.

On Saturday October 7th they will run a card at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, titled ‘York Hall Brawl.’ The show will be in association with Hellraiser Boxing and will be shown live on Spike TV and Channel 5.

Headlining the bill will be a WBC flyweight eliminator between Welsh wizard Andrew Selby and Mexican Maximino Flores.

In the chief support bout, Irish cruiserweight champion Luke Watkins [11(7)-0] will face Londoner Robin Dupre [12(1)-0] for the vacant Commonwealth title. Swindon-Wexford fighter Watkins has a British title eliminator with Tommy McCarthy ordered, but ‘The Mac Attack’ will first shake off the ring-rust on October 21st in Belfast in a six-rounder on the Ryan Burnett v Zhanat Zhakiyanov undercard at the SSE Odyssey Arena.

Also featuring on the undercard for the Cyclone show next month will be potential Katie Taylor rival Chantelle Cameron, a BBBoC Southern Area light middleweight title fight between champ Asinia Byfield and Max Wicks, Josh Hollywood, Ibz Mercan, Gelasius Taaru, and Terry Russell.

The show will go head-to-head with the Matchroom Promotions bill at the Manchester Arena where Anthony Crolla faces Ricky Burns, live on Sky Sports.
