Cummings confident not nervous ahead of home debut

CONRAD Cummings says he enters his high profile home debut in relaxed mood.

The Cyclone Promotions middleweight fights for only the second time as a pro and the first in Belfast on the This IS Belfast card, but claims he isn’t feeling the nerves.

The former WSB standout admits tensions might increase in the hours before the fight, but the fact he has invested so much time preparing for his clash with Zahari Mutafchiev means he is more confident than nervous.

And speaking at the final This is Belfast press conference the 22 year old also claimed the fact his debut was in London’s York Hall has helped eased the pressure.

“I think having the fight in the York Hall took the pressure off. It strange I am usually more nervous, but because I have genuinely ticked all the boxes leading up to the fight, left no stone unturned and prepared really well there is no reason why I should be nervous.

“Working over in London with Shane has really brought my game on more. I always trained hard, but I have moved onto a new level. There was a period where I had to get used to it but over the last six weeks I have really seen the difference.

“I am looking forward to fighting in front of the home crowd and hopefully putting on an impressive display.”
