Crumlin KO artist wants Last Man Standing homecoming

Tony Senior [8(6)-0] believes ‘Ireland’s Last Man Standing‘ would prove the perfect homecoming.

Senior is the latest Irish fighter around the weight to go public with his desire to fight for the €25,000 top prize fund in the National Stadium on Saturday March 3rd.

An amateur at Crumlin and former sparring partner of Conor McGregor, 33 year old Senior has never boxed outside Australia, but is more than willing to return to the place where he gained a reputation as a talented amateur to appear in a knockout tournament that looks set to bring boxing back to Irish TV.

“I’m well up for it,” he told Irish-Boxing.com

“I think it’s a great concept. Irish boxing is thriving at the moment and terrestrial television is something that will only elevate the sport. I’ve always said I’d come home and fight again so this is the perfect opportunity.”

Senior is a light middleweight and knows that with the 155-165lbs weight structure might see him give away weight if he does get selected to compete, but in a three round format he suggests that might be an advantage.

“I’m a natural light-middleweight which would mean giving away 11lbs to the heaviest competitor but I don’t see that as an issue,if anything it’s an advantage because speed beats power over a shorter distance in my opinion.”

‘Misdemeanor’ was fast developing a reputation as an entertaining knockout artist Down Under, but hasn’t fought since early 2016.

The brother of former London based pro Leon Senior claims that inactivity is about to change regardless of whether or not he is selected as one of the Last Man Standing eight.

“After becoming a dad recently I decided to take a break from boxing but myself and the team have already put big plans in place for a busy 2018 regardless of whether we are selected for Last Man Standing.”

Irish-Boxing.com recently looked to gauge interest in entering the tournament from other fighters.
