Corcoran: I’ve all the tools to defeat ‘deluded’ Liam Williams

London-Irish light middleweight Corcoran [15(6)-0] feels he holds all the cards ahead of his Britsih and Commonwealth title clash with Liam Williams in Cardiff tomorrow.

The man with Galway and Roscommon roots has had three tough wins on the bounce against the previously undefeated Rick Godding and Rick Skelton, as well as former English champ Danny Butler. This, he believes will give him an edge against Welshman Williams [14(9)-0-1].

Corcoran reasoned that “I’ve picked up a lot of experience with my three 10 rounders, experience that Williams doesn’t have.”

“All those fights could all have been eliminators or for minor titles.”

“Unlike the opposition Williams has faced, they all came to win the fight yet none of them came close to pushing me to my limit.”

The Wembley-born scrapper admits that “Liam’s a good prospect, but he’s fought no one,”

Williams has a reputation as a puncher, but fighting man Corcoran isn’t intimidated and notes how “he rants about, scraping me off the floor.”

“Well, he can try but I’ve never been knocked off my feet in my life.”

“Danny Butler had knocked plenty of good men out but couldn’t dent me.”

“Liam’s a decent puncher but not a massive puncher. He’s deluded and he’s made for me!”

Indeed experience and chin aren’t the only things that Corcoran feels he has an advantage in, and the Hellraiser explains that “I’ve got all the tools to beat him.”

“Liam says I’ve no [boxing] brain but I’m just as tall, and can box him off the jab just as much as I can batter him up close.”

The confident 25 year old promised that “whatever he comes with, I’ve got plans A, B and C.”

“Let him pick which one I beat him with!”

“Perhaps I’ll even do a Tyson Fury and fight him southpaw!”
