Corcoran predicts stoppage win against over-rated Selkirk

Despite his position as underdog, Gary Corcoran is hugely confident going into his light middleweight clash with the highly-rated Joe Selkirk in Dublin next month on the MGM Promotions ‘Clash of the Clans’ card.

The fight with the Liverpudlian is London-born Corcoran’s first in Ireland and the 25 year old is feeling no pressure.

Corcoran, of strong Galway stock, explains that “there’s no pressure on me at all in this fight, I can’t see anything other than a Gary Corcoran win.”

The all-action ‘Hellraiser’ even questioned the credentials of his Mersey opponent, asking “what’s he got in his armoury?”

“A bit of a punch – that’s it. He’s not been ten rounds yet at a hard pace so he’s making a mistake if he thinks he’s taking me out early.”

Corcoran foresees a knock-out win in the clash for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Title belt – a strap Jimmy Kilrain Kelly won directly before unsuccesfully challenging WBO champ Liam Smith for the World title.

Giving his prediction, the 14-0 fighter feels that “I can box or fight him, if he wants to go war, I’ll go to war with him.”

“This is a great fight for the fans and I’ll be coming away with a late stoppage, from the eighth round onwards, get that title and move on to bigger things in 2016.”
