Conrad Cummings given 2 hours to make weight after coming in over middleweight limit

Conrad Cummings has been given two hours to make weight after coming in over the 160lbs middleweight limit in Belfast today.

The popular Tyrone puncher is scheduled to face Luke Keeler in an anticipated rematch set for the top of an Ulster Hall bill tomorrow night.

‘Dynamite’ his opponent Keeler and the undercard boxers all took to the scales in Belfast this afternoon, but Cummings came over the limit.

The Jamie Moore-trained fighter, who puts his WBO European middleweight ranking title on the line against the former holder on a stacked card come Friday night, was just -.3 of a pound over the limit and should have no issue shifting the excess weight.

Although there shouldn’t be an issue, it seems the fight will go ahead regardless.

However, if, in the unlikely case that the .3 of a pound won’t come off and Cummings can’t make 160lbs, Cummings would be stripped of his belt only Keeler would be able to win the title on the top of the IFL TV broadcast bill.

The relatively small amount of weight to be removed and the fact Cummings has gone to work it off also puts paid to suggestions the Coalisland native has disregarded the title in a bid to come in bigger and increase his chances of victory.
