Conor McGregor calls for Taylor and Persoon to rematch in IRELAND

Conor McGregor wants to see Katie Taylor and Delfine Persoon again and wants any potential return to play out in Ireland.

Ireland’s best known sport star was one of millions impressed by the all action high octane clash involving Ireland’s greatest sport star.

Indeed, again like so many, particularly the neutral, ‘The Notorious’ would like to see a fight that was just as the now undisputed champion predicted ugly but exciting again.

The former Crumlin amateur also put forward Ireland as a potential venue for any possible repeat, a prospect that although unlikely will excite Irish fans.

Considering Persoon, who many suggest won the clash, predicted winning on the cards in America would be hard manning the away corner in a rematch of a fight she believes she won wouldn’t really appeal.

The two-weight UFC champion and ardent Taylor fan took to social media within minutes of the fight to congratulate the first Irish fighter to unify an entire division in the four belt era, but also paid homage to the Belgian, who lost her WBC title in the Madison Square Garden-hosted clash.

He tweeted: “Congratulations Ireland’s Katie Taylor! What a battle that was from two warrior women. It has rematch written all over it. Rematch in Ireland! Katie’s Frazier, Delfine Persoon! Wow.”

It wasn’t the first time McGregor had come out in support of Taylor. Prior to the bout he heralded her greatness and called for people to get behind her.

Not to mention after her victory over Cindy Serrano in the same venue last October the Crumlin native visited Taylor in her dressing room post the shut out win.
