Conor Cooke makes bold Celtic Clash prediction – wants Fury or title fight next

Conor Cooke [2(1)-0] will be hoping Love Island’s Tommy Fury isn’t watching tonight, as he is sure he will register a second round step up knockout win on Celtic Clash 9.

‘Da Crook’ cheekily called out Tyson Fury’s brother post his stint on the Summer television show – and although he claims it was all a bit of ‘craic’ he admits he was contacted with regard to the fight and is still up for it.

“The Fury thing was just a bit of craic to be honest. But it seemed to go down a bit of a more serious road as they where contacting me about it,” the Dee Walsh trained cruiser explained.

“Nothing came of it and I wasn’t really pushing it as I was just enjoying the banter! Then again if the fight could happen then I’m 100% up for it. Let’s go Tommy!”

If he wants that clash to happen and tonight at the Devenish goes the way he predicts, he will be praying none of Team Fury are in attendance.

The former MMA fighter takes what looks like a step up on the Boxing Ireland show as he takes on Cork based Pole Staz Tomasevski.

Tomasevski, who himself has a a Muay Thai background debuted in Cork earlier this year and defeated a county rival in Oisin O’Donovan.

Cooke is adamant his CC9 rival won’t be celebrating another domestic victory this weekend. In fact, he believes his muscled to the max foe won’t make the third round.

“Da Crook victorious TKO round yeo,” he responds with confidence when asked for a prediction.

“It is possibly a step up. My opponent looks tough and durable. Hes 1-0 so he has something to lose, which can make a man dangerous. He seems to be strong and throws big shots. I treat all fights the same way. I expect a hard tough fight but I’m more than confident I’ll take home the win,” he adds before revealing that’s all he really knows of the Cork Pole.

“I watched his last fight, he seems tough. He seems to come forward a bit and of course he will be coming into this fight on a high after winning his debut. I hear he has a Muay Thai background and you can see it a little in his stance. I’m looking forward to it.

The Antrim fighter hasn’t fought in almost a year and is more than excited to fight at the Devenish tonight.

“I can not wait! Absolutely buzzing to get back in there. It’s been a long break, the only fight I was offered fell thought and it left me gutted for a while ,but where here now and I’m more excited than ever. I’ve been counting the days to I step back in there again.”

“Camp has been amazing. I’ve had the head down, isolated myself a little, had a few things going against me but we made it work. I train hard Monday to Saturday most days twice a day. I feel fast, strong and fit. Zero injuries for a change. I just feel so so confident and I’m ready to put on a show here on Saturday.”

If he puts on a show – and of course if Fury isn’t an option – Cooke believes he could move into the Celtic title conversation.

“When I win here on Saturday – and I’m looking to impress – I don’t see why I won’t have Celtic title shot next. I would even love for it to be sooner, before the year’s out. But whenever it is. I’ll be more than ready. That’s the short term goal which will then lead on to the main goal. I strongly believe I’ll go on to lift the bigger belts as I progress and grow. Good things come to those who work hard.”
