Confident Conlan not weighed down by expectation

MICHAEL Conlan has grown from boy to main man since he last appeared in the Commonwealth Games.

The Olympic medal winner has gone on to establish himself as not only one of the best amateurs in Ireland but the World since since Dehli and indeed is the fighter to beat in the 56kg division,

As a result there is an air of expectation surrounding  London 2012 Olympic bronze and European silver medalist, but a confident Conlan claims that only fuels his desire to succeed even more.

Conlan said: “I think I’ve grown massively since Delhi – I was only a boy and I was the youngest and least experienced on the team. Now I’m one of the most experienced and I’m very confident coming into these Games. I feel the expectation but it pushes me on and I’m very confident I’m going to go out and do the job.”
