Jamie Conlan: Cyclone Promotions can provide me with major title shots

JAMIE Conlan is ready to fulfil his potential and believes signing with Cyclone Promotions will ensure he finally gets the chance to blow his way past big name rivals en route to the top.

Even before winning the Irish Prospect of the Year Award a year before Frampton collected the award, Conlan was tipped for the top and considering he competes amongst a small pool of fly and super flyweights was expected to get amongst the belts in double quick time.

However, despite impressing every time he has entered the paid ring the Belfast fighter has yet to even challenge for a title. Injuries, promotional issues and show cancellations have all delayed Conlan’s progress, but now he is has signed with Barry McGuigan and Cyclone Promotions the John Breen trained fighter won’t be trying to flirt with Lady Luck.

With a strong team behind him ‘The Mexican’ is confident he can move quickly into the domestic reckoning before progressing further up the ladder.

Conlan is excited at the prospect of stability and regularity in his professional boxing career.

“I have signed a promotional contract with Cyclone Promotions and I am looking forward to them guiding my career. I haven’t been as active as I would have liked so far in my professional career and that has been the biggest issue for me, but with Cyclone Promotions I will be boxing more regularly and boxing at home as much as possible,” said Conlan, who hopes to fight for a title on the This is Belfast card on April 4.

“It is an exciting time for me and I can’t wait to get started on April 4th! Right now the super flyweight division is competitive in the UK and Ireland but I believe I am knocking on the door of major titles and I believe Cyclone Promotions will deliver those opportunities to me.”
