WATCH: Ulster HP Team talk sparring in Spain as they await Commonwealth qualifier date

The Commonwealth Games take place on the Gold Coast in Australia next April and a number of Irish boxers are already deep in preparation for the tournament.

Members of the Ulster High Performance team were recently in Spain to take part in the Totana sparring camps ran by former British and Irish champ Sam Storey.

The camp was part of the build-up to the Ulster Seniors, which look set to act as a Commonwealth qualifier yet frustratingly still do not have a definitive date.

The fighters in Spain included Elite Senior runners-up Brett McGinty and Stevie McKenna, semi-finalist Dee Sully, U22 champion James McGivern, runner-up Caoimhin Ferguson, and World Youth Championships participant Conor Quinn, who all caught up with Irish-Boxing.com to give an update on their preparations.
