Paddy Donovan [2(1)-0] will squeeze one more fight in before Christmas.

The Limerick prospect has already enjoyed back to back quick fire wins since turning over as recent as October.

‘The Real Deal’ stopped Arturo Lopez before a round had passed on his Ocotber 11 debut and added to the win tally by dropping and out pointing Danny Lopez in Glasgow on the 16th of this month.

The 20-year-old’s eagerness to progress was highlighted by the fact he fought over six in just his second fight – and is further displayed by the fact he will fight for a third time in three months come December 20.

Donovan has been added to the #MTKFightNight set for Bolton just five days before Christmas.

Securing such a date means the father can get another fight in and have an earned break over Christmas.

At the turn of the year he will then divert his focus to St Patrick’s Day and New York, where he will trade leather on the undercard of Michael Conlan’s annual visit to Madison Square Garden.

Reflecting on Donovan’s most recent win former middleweight champion of the world and ‘Real Deal’ coach pointed it out it was a good learning six round innings.

“He went six rounds, he fought at a good pace, he threw a lot of hard shots over every round so he can take a lot from the fight,” he said on Off The Ball’s Off the Brawl.

“It was a good performacne. He still showed a lot of his skill and what he can do. He was pretty happy with. In the middle rounds I think he had a little crisis in confidence. I think he was worried that he was landing on this guy, he was hurting him put he wasn’t knocking him down. That’s unusual for Paddy because in sparring he has hurt everyone and the one fight he has had he knocked the guy out.

“I think he was worrying what people were thinking so I had to reassure him during the fight. The thing is when he sparring he is not looking to hurt anyone he is just looking to boxing. Then ultimately he ends up hurting these opponents because the punches flow and it happens without him trying to force it. So he has to get back to that in the actually fight.”
