Carl Frampton’s heart and resilience were further magnified by the doctors report following his most recent win.

Coach Jamie Moore heralded ‘The Jackal’ post his victory over Tyler McCreary in Las Vegas last weekend pointing out he’d ‘never known anybody as resilient or mentally strong’ as the Belfast fighter.

The coach was referring to how the former two weight world champion stayed focused throughout a turbulent 12 months, overcame a freak injury that ruined a proposed August comeback and fought and trained through the pain barrier to eventually win in Las Vegas last week.

It was high praise from Moore, but his admiration must have increased further when he saw the doctors report with regard to the extent of Frampton’s injuries in the days after the fight.

At that time it was believed Frampton had damaged his left hand, a hand that went twice in in training, in the second round of the fight.

Post the fight Frampton was informed he also fractured his right hand, an injury they believe happened in the seventh of a 10 round fight.

Frampton suffered the initial injury in freak circumstances in the build up to his proposed August Philly clash with Emmanuel Dominguez.

The 32-year-old re-damaged it TWICE in training, but as he explained after the win was never pulling out of the fight.

The December 1 win looks to have set up a world title fight with WBO super featherweight world champion Jamel Herring. Irish-boxing.com believes that fight will play out in the SSE Arena in May giving one of Ireland’s greatest time enough to recover.
