Carl Frampton hopes Josh Warrington will “smash the shite out of” Kid Galahad

Carl Frampton [26(15)-2(0)] wants Josh Warrington to “smash the shite right out of Kid Galahad.”

It’s not so much ‘The Jackal’ has become a massive Warrington fan since he lost to the IBF featherweight world champion back in December – although there is massive respect between the pair – nor is the former two weight champion thinking more Warrington wins reflects better on him.

The Belfast fighter simply doesn’t like Galahad and would like to see him humbled by his former rival and Frank Warren stablemate.

Galahad, a product of the Ingle gym in Sheffield, has been a divisive character throughout his career.

Quite vocal, extremely confident, and having failed a drugs test, the Qatar-born 28-year-old has alienated many fight fans.

The former British, Commonwealth, and European super bantamweight champion has worked his way into IBF featherweight mandatory position, beating Toka Kahn Clary in October, and will thus challenge Warrington for the title next.

No date or venue has been confirmed but the bout looks likely for the First Direct Arena in Leeds in May.

Frampton is firmly backing Warrington having been on the receiving end of numerous call-outs from Galahad [26(15)-0] throughout his career.

The Belfast fighter was never keen to engage the Yorkshire native, noting that it was never a fight that made sense as Galahad was always a couple of rungs below him on the ladder and never genuinely on the radar.

However, former two-weight world champion Frampton seems to have taken note and as a result taken a dislike to the man who will try and beat the Ulsterman’s most recent foe.

Speaking to BT, who will broadcast Warrington’s defence against Galahad after Frank Warren won the purse bids, he revealed he hopes the Leeds native badly beats the Sheffield man.

“In my heart of hearts…I would like to see Josh Warrington smash the shite right out of Kid Galahad,” said Frampton.

“I hope he wins the fight- that’s just me being brutally honest.  I hope he beats him from pillar to post.”
