Carl Frampton [26(15)-2(0)] revealed he has trained like an underdog ahead of the ‘most important fight’ of his career.

‘The Jackal’ returns to the ring after 11 months and for the first time since his IBF featherweight world title defeat to Josh Warrington when he takes on Tyler McCreary [16(7)-0-1] in Las Vegas tonight.

The former two-weight world champion goes into the fight as a heavy favourite, but with so much at stake claims he is adopted an underdog attitude.

Not only does the Belfast fighter want to impress and silence some critics, but he wants to ensure he earns the world title shot that has been promised by Top Rank if he emerges victorious.

“I’ve prepared like I’m an underdog, and I’m going in to put on a show,” said Frampton.

“I want to win this fight, but I want to knock this kid out. I’ve had some huge fights in my career. No matter who my opponent is, it’s always going to be the biggest fight. The situation I’m in now it’s a must win,” he added before addressing the world title promise.

“I have to win this fight to fight a champion in my next fight. I want to fight for a world title in my next fight, and I must beat Tyler McCreary. That’s why I’m looking at it as the most important fight of my career.”

Frampton is aware his undefeated American opponent will be equally as motivated.

The 26-year-old prospect can upgrade to contender with a massive win and will be fired up accordingly.

However, the 32-year-old is adamant there is no room for an upset.

“I’m fighting Tyler McCreary on Saturday. A good, hungry, undefeated young kid. This is his big chance. I’m pretty sure that if he beats me, his next fight will be for a world title. But it’s not going to happen. I’ve prepared very, very hard for this fight,” he added.
