Caoimhin Agyarko [5(2)-0] hopes to put a bit of gloss on his 2019 by ending it with a stoppage victory in York Hall tonight.

From the outside looking in the 23-year-old has had the ideal 2019 registering three wins since April, two of which came via stoppage and one of which came against a Scot with a winning record.

Indeed, such has ‘Black Thunder’s’ performances been that boxing chatter has started to generate around him and his profile has benefited.

However, the London based Belfast fighter wasn’t overly happy with his last 12 months.

Agyarko knows he can’t complain with regard to number of fights and level of opposition, but he hasn’t been happy with his performances.

In fact he’d give himself just a pass mark for a year where he continued his unbeaten start.

“I had a good year. I got a couple of tough opponents and a couple injuries but over all it was a learning year and I’m happy with how I am progressing,” he told Irish-boxing.com.

“If you’re asking if I’ve performed as well as I can, then probably no. I’ve shown glimpses of how good I am and that I can adapt to certain fighters. I’m always my biggest critic, so over the last year, if I was to judge all performances I’d give myself a 4/10, because I know how good I am and what I bring to the ring. ”

The Frank Warren prospect might allow himself to increase that harsh score if he scores a big win in London tonight.

Agyarko will be expected to beat Bulgarian Danail Stoyanov [3(1)-9(0)] but see’s the fact the journey has never been stopped as an opportunity to impress.

“I am expecting a tricky fight. He’s never been stopped and will probably look to survive but I’ve a game plan in play. I hope to get him out of there and show another side to my boxing game.”

“I’m always hoping to catch the eye and always give my best, which will catch the eye. I believe I’ve got a fan friendly style and I want to put another good performance on to give people something to get excited about for next year.”

Agyarko expects to start making more noticeable steps up the ladder in 2020 and believes that is when his best will be on display.

“A win will set up another busy learning year for me, but a year were I will step up in opponents and I believe that’s when you’ll see the best Caoimhin Agyarko.”
