The Bookie Batterer: Putting all our dosh on Josh

Following last Saturday’s success we are looking to make it two profitable weekends in a row.

Our main focus this week is the PPV show at the O2 in London tonight, as well as the Premier Boxing Champions clash between Keith Thruman and Shawn Porter.

Accumulator #2

John Wayne Hibbert v Andrea Scarpa
Method of Victory: John Wayne Hibbert KO/TKO @ 4/5

The Italian’s record flatters to deceive while the fairytale narrative has been written for Hibbert. Expecting a late stoppage following continued barrages from the super fit Hibbert, although not ruling out a one-round blowout.

Chris Eubank v Tom Doran
Alternate Group Round Betting: Chris Eubank Jr 7-12 @ 10/3

Eubank has accumulative power rather than one-punch KO pop. Doran’s punch resistance is suspect, but expect him to use his boxing skills early on, especially after his war with Luke Keeler, before eventually succumbing to the relentless Eubank.

George Groves v Martin Murray
Will the Fight go the Distance?: No @ 13/8

This fight we see going one of two ways. A) The naturally bigger Groves inflicts a one-sided battering forcing a mid-rounds stoppage, or B) Martin Murray sets a high pace, outworks Groves and tests his stamina, leading him to quit on his stool late on.

Anthony Joshua v Dominic Breazeale
Group Round Betting: Anthony Joshua 1-3 @ 3/10

In the words of a respected Irish boxing figure we spoke to yesterday, “this fight is a 50/50 for Anthony Joshua – there’s a 50% chance that he knocks him out in the first round, and a 50% chance he knocks him out in the second round.”

Keith Thurman v Shawn Porter
Method of Victory: Keith Thurman Points or Decision @ 13/8

Picking Thurman to use his boxing skills in this bout and coast to a victory. Porter has a solid chin, as he proved against Kell Brook, but is one-dimensional, as he proved against Kell Brook. There may also be a slight, understandable, tentativeness shown by Thurman following his recent car crash which forced the initial postponement of the bout.

€10 returns approx €698

Cheeky Punts
Anthony Joshua v Dominic Breazeale
What Minute Will the Fight End In: 4th minute @ 6/1

Perhaps not our most scientific bet, but the image that had been going through our head all week is of Joshua hurting the American, perhaps even knocking him down, early but Breazeale is saved by the bell – only to be finished off at the start of the second staza.

Dillian Whyte v Ivica Bacurin
Method of Victory: Dillian Whyte Points or Decision @ 10/3

Whyte does not look in the greatest of shape, and Bacurin has decent survival abilities. This could be a stinker of a fight.
