Belfast BoxNation Undercard Round-Up

The ‘Belfast Boys Are Back’ card is well underway at the Waterfront Hall.

Each of the twelve fights feature an at least one Irish boxer, including prospects, journeymen, contenders, and champions.

Opening the show was Bangor’s Casey Blair, who took on top English prospect Troy Williamson. ‘The Kid’ suffered a rare stoppage, having the bout waved off in the third, with the size of his opponent just being too much. Blair drops to [4(0)-24(4)] following the bruising fight.

Then there was an outing for local light welterweight journeyman Jamesy Gorman, who stepped up to welterweight to face Gary Corcoran. The Wembley-Connacht fighter was stepping down from light middleweight himself following his Commonwealth title loss to Liam Williams.

There was another stoppage here for the Alio Wilton-journeyman, but Gorman definitely earned his money during the four and a half rounds it lasted, throwing and landing plenty. Corcoran however was relentless, and the bout was waved off as ‘The Hellraiser’ began to get through with numerous flurries in the fifth – although ‘The Chin’ was saddened by he referee’s decision.

Gorman falls to 8(3)-36(4) following his game showing, while Corcoran improves to 16(7)-1(1) with the comeback win
