Anthony Joshua Joseph Parker betting latest

It’s the biggest fight of 2018 to date in more ways than one.  Anthony Joshua, the current world heavyweight champion would take another step forward in his boxing career on March 31 when he takes on the hard-hitting New Zealander Joseph Parker, in a match at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, UK.

It’s a battle of two naturally big men that plays out in front of sold out stadium and with all bar one of the World heavyweight titles on the line.

As pointed out it’s massive, but interestingly enough both fighters have said they plan to come smaller and lighter than ever for the eagerly anticipated heavyweight clash.

Joshua weighed in at his heaviest ever in wins against Wladimir Klitschko (17st 12lbs) and Carlos Takam (18st 2lbs) last year but could drop some mass before facing Joseph Parker in a world heavyweight title unifier live on Sky Sports.

Does Size Matter

It’s an interesting approach from the fighter of Nigerian and Irish heritage and one that has raised eyebrows.

It has prompted some to suggest the British star is is concerned about the potential mobility of the Newzeland native and indeed a fighter he is favoured to beat in general.

Watching both in the recent press conference and the news has prompted a host online to  offer fresh Joshua Parker betting tips .

“I can’t see him coming in more than 17st 8lbs or 17st 9lbs, which would be half-a-stone lighter than the last fight. Maybe he will be even lighter,” his Promoter Eddie Hearn said.

“I was laughing with him, saying: ‘you’re worse than my wife – you’re constantly on the scales checking your weight’.

“He feels amazing. I was on FaceTime with him and he got on the scales – he was 17st 7lbs on Sunday night. He’d had a weekend of replenishing. From the day after his Takam fight, all he has been thinking about is how he can improve, get a bit leaner, improve the jab, improve the footwork. He is obsessed with improvement.

“I watched him spar 12 rounds last week. His footwork is so much better – he is gliding on his feet, he has got faster hands. He is so meticulous in camp, like nothing I’ve ever seen.

“He is lighter and started camp earlier so they aren’t having to exhaust him. He is working hard, but much smarter. So far, this is the best camp he’s had. Coming in lighter, he feels great.”

Stats suggest that Brit would win within the first three rounds

Despite rumours the Big Brit has made significant changes to accommodate the style of his next opponent Joshua is still short favourite, in fact as short as 1/8 in some cases.

However, Parker is a live underdog, his team have been vocal in their belief they can ‘expose’ the Matchroom fighter. The New Zealander has gone 25 fights without defeat and comes into the clash as a genuine World champion and he can be got at 6/1 and higher.

Parker is not noted as a one punch knock out merchant like some of the giants of the division, but won the title via stoppage and has taken the short distance to victory 18 times. He is 10/1 to land a fight winning punch that would make the World sit up and take note.

Joshua’s CV certainly makes for the better reading and considering he has never been brought the distance plenty will indulge in round group betting.

Get it done early

Anyone following the London 2012 Olympic gold medal winners bouts and statistics would have their work cut out as they’d need to go through the statistics in even more detail. In fact, the more risk-taking ability you show in this upcoming fight, the bigger would be your rewards.

16 of Joshua’s wins in which he was the favourite, came within the first three rounds. Out of those, eight were in round two, five in round one and three in round three. This indicates that it would be safer to bet on a Joshua win during round two, and it’s also available at impressive odds of 14/1. However, those seeking a bit more safety and not wanting to stay limited to the three-minute time period should check out the round group betting. Anthony Joshua to score win at any point of time between round one and round three is being offered at 9/2.
