Anthony Cacace [18(7)-1(0)] has been offered an out of the blue chance to fight for the blue belt.

Granted it’s trough the realms of Twitter, but Cacace has been offered a shot at the reigning EBU European super featherweight champion nonetheless.

‘The Apache’ registered a massive British title victory in Birmingham on Saturday night, out pointing the previously unbeaten Sam Bowen to breath new life into a previously frustrating stop start career.

Indeed, the win boosted the 30-year-old’s world ranking. Cacace moved into the WBA top 10, prompting his manager Pat Magee to point out that, while there were options domestically, a 2020 world title shot is a realistic possibility.

It now seems there are Continental options too. EBU European super featherweight champion, Samir Ziani‘s manager Gary Hyde has offered the Belfast fighter a shot at his man.

Cork man Hyde, claims the French fighter is lining up a voluntary defence of the famous blue strap for February – and revealed the fight is there for the British champion if he is willing to travel to France.

Hyde, who brought Guillermo Rigondeaux to Ireland to face Willie Casey and gave Anthony Fitzgerald a shot as Hassan N’Dam, made the offer on Twitter.

According to the EBU Ziani [31(6)-3(0)-1 ] is in talks with regard to defending his title against former Cacace foe Martin J Ward.

The governing body claim Hyde and Matchroom are ‘in negations’ with regard making that fight between former and reigning champion. However, it seems talks have not produced a fight and Hyde has now offered the clash to the Belfast fighter.

It would prove a massive opportunity for the Harry Hawkins trained talent. Cacace could upgrade his title standing instantly and win a strap that would further help in terms of winning a world title.

Indeed, James Tennyson used the same belt to help secure a world title fight with Tevin Farmer.

Ziani won the belt by beating Juli Giner in Spain in February of this year and defended it successfully against Faroukh Kourbanov of Belgium in October.

He lost to Richard Commey, but went the distance with the big punching now lightweight world champion in 2014. He also suffered defeat at the glove of former Jono Carroll foe Guillaume Frenois.
