Another title fight for John O’Donnell

Galway’s John O’Donnell [31(11)-2(1)] has been rewarded for his BBBoC Southern Area title-winning display at the start of the month with another title shot.

The London-based welterweight won the belt a fortnight ago with a rolling-back-the-years display against Tommy Tear at the York Hall.

Now the BBBoC have answered the 30 year old’s post-fight calls for an English title clash with champion Johnny Garton [18(6)-1(1)-1].

The bout will also serve as an eliminator for the British title currently held by Bradley Skeete. Skeete defends his belt against Shayne Singleton on November 26th at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff. Additionally, Belfast’s Paddy Gallagher takes on Tamuka Mucha in another eliminator on the undercard George Groves v Eduard Gutknecht at the Wembley Arena on November 18th.

Purse bids for the clash are due by Wednesday 9th November with the bout scheduled to take place before the end of February 2017.

However, London ticket-seller Garton has been booked for George Groves undercard next month. Considering this, and promoter Cyclone’s Irish links, it seems plausible that the title fight could take place on the Channel 5/Spike-aired card (although it would need a very quick turnaround).
