All-Irish cruiserweight contest confirmed for Celtic Clash 9

It’s not quite Tommy Fury, but it’s an interesting step-up for Conor Cooke next nonetheless.

The Belfast fighter has agreed to fight Cork-based Pole Staz Tomasevski on the Celtic Clash 9 card, which is set for the Devenish and October 12th.

Cooke had flirted with the idea of fighting Tyson Fury’s younger brother, Tommy, but the Love Island contestant didn’t respond to his public advances.

However, that doesn’t mean Cooke’s following haven’t a big night to look forward to on the next installment of Boxing Ireland’s Celtic Clash series.

The Antrim Town cruiser steps up to six rounds for the first time and certainly faces game opposition.

The well-built Tomasevski won the Fight of the Night when he debuted in a thriller on Martin Horgan’s Leeside Revolution show.  The Polish Rebel defeated Oisin O’Donovan over four rounds and will be confident he can upset ‘Da Crooke’

It’s the second all-Ireland clash to be added to the card following the announcement of Stephen Webb versus Martin Quinn.

Topping the bill will be an interesting clash between Joe Fitzpatrick and respected Spaniard Iago Baros.

Speaking about the most recent addition to the card promoter Leonard Gunning said:

“Antrim vs Cork!! Just slightly less violent than the hurling but another absolute cracker of a fight as two unbeaten Irish-based cruiserweights lock horns on Celtic Clash 9.

“Antrim’s Conor Cooke steps up to 6 round level as he faces Cork-based Pole Staz Tomasevski, who recently made his victorious debut in a thriller on Martin Horgan’s Leeside Revolution show.
