Steven Donnelly learns first round Ultimate Boxxer fate

Steven Donnelly [5(1)-0] learnt his first round fate, as the first round of the  the Ultimate Boxxer 5 tournament was made today.

Eight super-welterweights are set to compete at the Indigo at The O2 on September 20, and for the first time the octet includes an Olympian competing for glory in the form of Donnelly.

The batch of 154-pounders looking to emulate Lawal by winning the Golden Robe and soaring up the professional ranks, met in London today to find out who they will be facing in the quarter-finals of the competition in just two weeks time.

Rio Olympian and Ballymena favourite Donnelly was drawn against Aaron Cullen in Fight 4.

Bam Bam’ is unbeaten as a pro with six wins to his name. The 26-year-old only took up boxing four years ago at the age of 22, and shed an impressive five stone off his frame in order to compete.

The Frimley-born fighter, who now operates out of the Camberley Boxing Club, won’t daunt the Gleann ABC trained pro.

Donnelly is tournament favourite and is confident he has the beating of any of the seven entrants.

The Draw is as follows:

Kingsley Egbunike vs Lenny Fuller

Kaan Hawes vs Joshua Ejakpovi

Lewis Syrett vs Sean Robinson
