Kiko Martinez secures massive World title shot on the same night as Frampton versus Quigg

The man Carl Frampton disposed as the European and World championships has secured another crack at a World title.

The Spaniard, who holds a knock out win over Bernard Dunne, will challenge former Jackal target and potential future opponents Leo Santa Cruz for the WBA featherweight World title.

The bout will take place on the same night as Frampton puts his IBF super bantamweight title on the line against Scott Quigg in California.

Ireland’s leading fighting light at present, Frampton has been seeking a match up with Santa Cruz when he was WBC super bantamweight champion, but the fight never materialised.

The undefeated 28 year old has super bantamweight issues to contend with at present, but is likely to move up in weights eventually when that does happen there is no doubt three weight World champ Santa Cruz will return to his radar, that is if the Mexican manages to get past Martinez next month.
