1, 2 Freddy’s coming for you – Christina ‘Freddy Krueger’ Linardatou promises Taylor brute force approach

Christina Linardatou [12(6)-1(00} claims she will use brawn rather brains to solve the Katie Taylor [14(6)-0] conundrum – if as expected the pair meet in London this November.

Finesse isn’t quite part of the arsenal of fighter, whose nicknames range from ‘Killer’ to ‘Great White Shark’ and even ‘Freddy Krueger‘ of Nightmare on Elm Street fame.

With that in mind the Greek world champion very colourfully suggests if the fight with the undisputed lightweight world champion is made, she won’t look to out box the supreme talent.

Quite the opposite in fact, the WBO light welterweight world champion told Irish-boxing.com she will unlock Taylor’s defense with sheer force.

“You are asking me what is the key to unlocking an undefeated lock. I don’t use keys I punch the lock until it breaks and withers away into nothing,” the 31-year-old told Irish-boxing.com when asked how she would approach a fight with female boxing’s leading light before elaborating on her aggressive approach.

“When my managers Manny Lavdakis and Brian Cohen are together they laugh and call me names such as a blood thirsty savage, they’re killer, great white shark or Freddy Krugger.”

While the fight has yet to be officially announced its widely believed Eddie Hearn of Matchroom and the Bray fighter’s manager Brian Peters are keen to fight Linardatou next.

The plan appears to be follow the history narrative before going for the mega fights. The fighter who changed the face of female amateur boxing will look to become a two weight world champ with victory over Linardatou before targeting a second undisputed fight, this time with former foe and current two belt light welter champ Jessica McCaskill.

Linardatou’s manager Cohen confirmed contact had been made with regard to step one of that plan, but claimed the initial offer was poor, a point the champion herself reiterated.

“They need to realize that I hold a piece of the 140 lb title. If they want me to go anywhere and fight Katie the numbers will have to make sense.”

The Dominican Republic born puncher, who successfully defended her title against DDP’s DD Hobbs last time out, also suggests the show she will put on alongside arguably Ireland’s greatest sports star will be worth paying for.

“I have a great amount of respect for Katie. She has accomplished so much through out her amateur and professional career. I feel it’s going to be one of those fights where your not going to want to take your eyes off of the television set,” she adds before stressing she has undisputed aspiration plans of her own.

“We have been calling out Jessica McCaskill for months but it seems she built a two belt wall and is hiding behind it. If Katie wants to try and take my title she is going to have to pry it from my cold dead hands.”
