Young Limerick talent handed headline slot in Toronto

Limerick prospect Lee Reeves [3(2)-0] takes the step-up to headline material when he returns to the ring later this month in Canada.

The 24-year-old will main event against a fighter with an impressive record in just his fourth pro fight on Saturday April 20th at the Danforth Music Hall in Toroto.

The Lee Baxter Promotions southpaw has impressed since turning over late last year but, considering he is just three fights into his pro career, this is a chance that may have come sooner than most would have anticipated.

Reeves will face Argentinian Guillermo Ariel Lettieri [17(12)-2(2)-1] in what will be his first six round contest.

The South American brings a healthy record to the ring – although one which is quite inflated.

Lettieri turned pro in 2014 at the age of 39 and built his record in Argentina but did so fighting on shows sanctioned by the highly-criticised ‘World Pugilism Commission‘ where quality is extremely low compared to that of the more reputable and established ‘Argentina Boxing Federation’.

With his record built, ‘El Tano’ is now looking to go on the road and had his first fight outside of Argentina in September where he was stopped in three rounds by Canada-based Guyanese prospect Mohammed Abedeen.

For a fourth fight, however, as well as a first six rounder, it’s a nice next step for Reeves.

The prominence on the card comes as reward for the Limerick man’s positive start to pro life.

Back-to-back knockout wins at the tail-end of 2018 helped earn the welterweight a slot on the undercard of Michael Conlan’s annual New York St Patrick’s Day fight card.

The slick operator’s performance in the Madison Square Garden Theater impressed the watching fans and indeed some high profile members of the boxing press.

Reeves now has the chance to impress again on April 20th in a city he is earning a reputation as an entertaining fighter.
